Lisa Kao, director of Environmental Health & Safety/Risk Management (EHS/RM), is retiring on Friday, May 26.
Kao was hired in 1992 as an EHS/RM student assistant. After graduating, she worked as a temporary employee for one year before being hired full-time in the department in 1995. Kao has served as the director of EHS/RM since 2010 and has been instrumental in ensuring the campus’ compliance with Federal, State, County and CSU policies and procedures regarding workplace safety and environmental conditions.
Most recently, she helped to provide important health and safety guidance to our campus community during the pandemic. Kao has also represented the campus on the Executive Committee of the California State University Risk Management Authority (CSURMA) since 2018 and has served as the Vice Chair since 2021. We are very appreciative of her leadership and care for our campus during her time at Fresno State.
Stop by anytime to wish Kao well in her retirement on Tuesday, May 23 at the Smittcamp Alumni House between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.. An electronic invitation is available below and here. If you have any questions, contact John Hung at jhung@csufresno.edu.
