What began as a “bold idea” in the 2017 Bold Ideas Challenge has now come to fruition in Fresno State’s newest employee recognition program — High Five. Click here to read about how the program began.
High Fives are easy to give — simply go to the High Five website on the Organizational Excellence webpage, click “Give a High Five” and fill out the form to send kudos to anyone on campus. Your message will be delivered straight to their inbox, and recipients will be acknowledged weekly in Campus News.
Read below how your colleagues are going above and beyond to help the campus community.

Above & Beyond
Dillon Griffith, Facilities Management
Just made TRADES MANAGER and is a hard diligent worker.
Fatih Yenen, Technology Services
Fatih "works above and beyond" to make sure that all my (and my team's) web page needs are met. I was tasked to work with Fatih to create and maintain two very important new web pages for the University. I have no web knowledge, and very cryptically ask Fatih to create things or do things that I see other campuses doing, not knowing if we can do the same. He never complains or stresses out and very calmly tells me that we can do it, no problem. Thank you Fatih for being so helpful, for being so fast and working at all hours to make sure that we get this done.
Bryan Berrett, Center for Faculty Excellence
This High Five actually goes out to Bryan Berrett and his entire staff in the Center for Faculty Excellence. The transition to virtual instruction is causing extra work and stress for everyone on campus, but CFE is at the eye of the storm, helping faculty transition course materials and instruction. The CFE team has worked long and hard to help our entire campus navigate this unprecedented alteration in instruction and they deserve special kudos for all their work!
Janell Morillo, Student Health & Counseling Center
The situation with COVID-19 has been stressful for all Fresno State employees, and pretty much everyone in our community. However, imagine if you were on the front lines as a health care worker. Not only would your workload be massively increased, but you'd also be worried about your own health which could be at much greater risk than normal. These are the kinds of challenges that Janell Morillo and her entire staff in the Student Health and Counseling Center face. Janell and her staff certainly deserve a High Five, and a lot of thanks from the entire campus population now and over the coming weeks!
Chuck Radke, Research & Graduate Studies
Great job on a challenging search.
Boon Mo, Technology Services
Boon always goes above and beyond for our tech questions and needs!
Esmeralda Ramirez, Admission & Recruitment
Modeling Principles of Community
Cynthia Dolan, Office of the President
Cynthia, like many others, found herself suddenly working remotely this week. She didn't hesitate to jump right in and figure out exactly what she needed to do in order to be productive away from the office. She selflessly did everything she could to ensure that she was able to continue to cover her responsibilities all while maintaining a positive, can-do attitude. I am so thankful for her because it would have been very difficult for the rest of us in the office to try and cover her work. Thank you, Cynthia, you are a telecommuting rockstar!
Saved My Bacon!
Joshua Freeman, Library – Shipping & Receiving
He came by our offices offering to fill our hand sanitizer bottles. Wasn't asked, just provided a level of service and comfort to us. He came in with a smile and made my day!!!
