Fresno State continues to monitor the coronavirus respiratory disease (COVID-19), an outbreak of respiratory disease caused by a novel (new) coronavirus that was first detected in China and which has now been detected in several locations internationally, including in the United States.
As of March 20, the Fresno County Department of Public Health has confirmed six cases of COVID-19 in Fresno County, and there have been additional confirmed cases in nearby counties. The FCDPH says there is no immediate threat to the general public.
The University is in regular contact with the FCDPH, and has protocols in place with them to ensure quick and decisive communication and action as needed. Fresno State has emergency preparedness plans and procedures in place in the event of any impact or disruption to campus operations.
