After 29 years of service, Lisa Dennis, administrative support coordinator for the Department of Computer Science, will retire this summer.
Lisa started at Fresno State in 1997, working in the office of then-Provost J. Michael Ortiz. She later worked for 11 years at the CSU Summer Arts Program, which she said sparked her love for the performing arts. She later worked at the College of Science and Mathematics Dean’s Office and the Department of Psychology before coming to the Department of Computer Science.
Dr. Alex Liu, chair of the Department of Computer Science, said that Lisa played a crucial role in the growth of the department.
“Behind every success in our department there has been Lisa’s dedication, attention to detail and genuine care for people,” Liu said. “On behalf of the entire department, we thank Lisa for her incredible service and commitment.”
Lisa said that the best parts of her long career at Fresno State have been working with students, finding community and building lifelong friendships.
“I was always taught that the day you don’t want to go to work, you need to find a new job,” Lisa said. “I’ve never felt like that at Fresno State. The friends I have made here — I don’t think there’s a better feeling than that. I loved every minute of it.”
Lisa is happiest when she is active and she has no plans to slow down during retirement. In addition to spending more time with family and enjoying the coast, Lisa plans to do volunteer work for animal welfare and the Art of Life Cancer Foundation.
Join us in wishing Lisa a happy retirement!
