Dr. Sudarshan Kapoor, professor emeritus, Social Work and Peace Studies, recieved the MLK Community Service Award in grateful appreciation for 40 years of service to the community. He is a founding member of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Committee in the City of Fresno since 1984. The award was conferred by Chief Curt Flemming, Chief of Police , City of Clovis at the Annual Community Breakfast honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Dr. Pa Xiong, assistant professor, Department of Social Work Education, conducted an educational presentation "The Secret War: the forgotten Hmong Heroes" for Clovis Unified’s Asian Student Success Conference, ahead of the annual Hmong New Year.
Dr. Jason Whiting, professor, Department of Recreation Administration, and his recreation administration students partnered with Fresno Unified School District and Adventure Education Solutions to host winter camps for over 600 students this past winter break.
Dr. Miguel Perez, professor and interim chair, Department of Public Health, published "Assessing cultural intelligence among health education specialists" in the Health Education Journal and "Academic burnout among Master of Public Health students" in American Journal of Health Education.
Dr. Nupur Hajela, assistant professor, Department of Physical Therapy, presented "Trailblazing Healthcare Education: Digital Innovation, Telehealth, and Training" for the California Telehealth Resource Center.
The California Water Institute's Faculty Fellows program fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and encourages faculty researchers to develop applied research projects, prepare winning grant applications to pursue their research, participate in presentations of their work through conferences, and move their research projects forward to benefit the community.
This program presents a unique opportunity to partner with faculty and students to engage in education, research, and technology development to solve water research problems in not only the San Joaquin Valley, but all of California and the rest of the world.
