The Faculty Center that is part of the proposed new student union addresses the need for a collaborative, comfortable space dedicated to faculty. It is designed to help faculty in their roles as teachers, learners, scholars and members of the community.
The proposed $80 million Student Union and Faculty Center will be funded partly by a student fee increase. Fresno State students will vote March 28-30 on a referendum that will increase fees to help support the new union. The proposed annual student fee increase is $400, but the fee won’t increase to pay for the building until it opens in three to five years. A majority student “yes” vote is needed to pass the referendum.
The cost of the building will be subsidized by fundraising efforts and other sources. The University will not be using funds reserved for other primary projects (e.g. academics, other building upgrades) for this building.
The feasibility study is available for review at fresnostatenews.com/boldnewu.
