Dr. Noal Harbertson, professor emeritus of mathematics, passed away on July 31. From 1971 to 2006, he contributed as a professor of applied mathematics and also served as the chair of the Department of Mathematics.
Following his retirement, he was recognized as a professor emeritus. Dr. Harbertson helped develop the computer science program at Fresno State and established the first computer lab on campus. He was known for his passion for teaching, his dedication to his students, and his strong work ethic. From a young age, he exhibited a deep curiosity for learning, which continued throughout his life.
Additionally, he loved to fly fish for trout in northern California, Yosemite, Idaho and Utah. He enjoyed a lifelong hobby of tying his own flies for fly fishing and artwork. He loved eating seafood.
