Dr. Nichole Walsh, associate professor and interim department chair in the Department of Educational Leadership, Kremen School of Education and Human Development, was one of 20 members named by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing to serve on the 2026-27 Administrative Services Workgroup to update the guiding documents for statewide school leadership preparation. The workgroup includes members identified by key constituent groups as well as additional members selected through the application and scoring process. The group includes representation from institutions of higher education, county offices of education, school districts, administrator preparation programs, induction programs, faculty, practitioners, and education partners. Walsh is one of two representatives from the Central Valley.

Courtney Hughes, co-assistant director, Department of English, was awarded a $30,000 grant from Adobe. The grant will be used to support multimodal student writing and AI Critical Ethical Literacy. It will also support faculty in guiding students to use AI critically and ethically in their writing.

Dr. Soua Xiong, associate professor, Department of Counselor Education and Rehabilitation, published the study, "Hmong community college transfer student advising experiences at the university: A comparative study", in The Mentor: Innovative Scholarship on Academic Advising journal.

He also recently published the study, "A professor genuinely cared about me": The role of faculty on Hmong American college student success, in the Journal of Postsecondary Student Success.
