What began as a “bold idea” in the 2017 Bold Ideas Challenge has now come to fruition in Fresno State’s newest employee recognition program — High Five. Click here to read about how the program began.
High Fives are easy to give — simply go to the High Five website on the Organizational Excellence webpage, click “Give a High Five” and fill out the form to send kudos to anyone on campus. Your message will be delivered straight to their inbox, and recipients will be acknowledged weekly in Campus News.
Read below how your colleagues are going above and beyond to help the campus community.

Goes Above & Beyond
Kris Ratliff, Technology Services
I was having issues with my Wi-Fi at home (which is a huge hindrance to working from home). I submitted an issue to IT and Kris spent an hour on the phone with me going over possible issues eventually determining it was an outdated driver issue and going through the process of updating all my drivers manually (when the auto-update didn't install the newest driver). Kris spent over an hour working through the process and really helped ensure I had the optimal working from home experience. A huge credit to the IT team.
Dario Lemus, Foundation Financial Services
Dario worked with us to understand a complicated invoicing system for a new grant. He always helps us meet our requests to our funders and is always available to meet with us, so we are all on the same page. He is a hard worker, always on time, and always positive and ready to help.
Asheline Beeson, University Brand Strategy and Marketing
As the University's digital marketing specialist, Asheline has always been a high-output writer. In addition to assembling the monthly Fresno State community newsletter, she regularly assists dozens of campus entities all at once in conceptualizing and producing their strategic communications and email messages. With the campus shift to virtual events and other forms of virtual engagement during the pandemic, Asheline's workload has really grown, and she hasn't missed a beat. She has continued to provide high-level and on-time support of project after project that comes across her desk, often challenging and encouraging collaborators along the way to keep a big-picture vision in mind. Her leadership and expertise are second to none!

Provides Excellent Customer Service
Cherie Weber, Accounting Services
Cherie is always willing to assist us with any questions or challenges that arise (and some are very late in the game so to speak), and she always does it with a positive, pleasant and professional attitude and has for many years! This has made and continues to make working with her a joy! Kudos to you, Cherie and thanks for always providing excellent customer service!
Modeled Principles of Community
Melissa Norris, Student Health and Counseling Center
Today Melissa co-led the kickoff session for the sixth cohort of the Administrative Academy. We had 40 staff members connecting to learn about wellness, self-care and the senses. She was amazing! I know how busy she is and yet she took the time to prepare and deliver an authentic, reflective, and interactive session for our campus support staff. In doing so she modeled our principles of community demonstrating kindness, respect and collaboration. Melissa's primary job is to serve students and she took the time to serve our co-workers by sharing her expertise, passion and insights. Thank you, Melissa. We appreciate you!
Jessica Medina, SHCC - Student Cupboard
Thank you Jessica! Today, Jessica co-led the kickoff session for the Administrative Academy. It was amazing and just what we needed! She poured her heart, passion, expertise, and energy into creating an interactive, reflective and relevant session for our staff. I know how hard she is working to keep the Cupboard operating and serving our students (and juggling a family) and she took the time to make this a priority. She models kindness and respect in all she does and in this session those gifts shined! Thank you for collaborating with us Jessica — we appreciate all you do!
