As previously communicated, the campus community will migrate to Zoom Phone in mid to late October 2022. This week we submitted a request to move all phone numbers from the current vendor to Zoom Phone. Take a moment to review what you can expect next and other items of importance below.
What you can expect next:
- Be on the lookout for an email from Zoom: On Sept. 26, you will receive an email from Zoom no_reply@zoom.us stating that your phone setup is complete. The email will show the name and extension number assigned to your phone. Verify the information is accurate; if not, open a ticket to make any correction(s).
- Look for the phone feature on your Zoom client: Once you receive the email and confirm the setup, log in to with Single Sign On (SSO) to see the phone feature; you may need to log out and into your computer to view it. Once it shows, you can make internal calls to campus extensions (8xxxx), but not external calls. Zoom Phone will not fully function at this time. However, you may explore the settings to activate features such as office hours and voicemail. Later, you will receive an email from the Fresno State Zoom team when Zoom Phone is fully functional. Sign up for a training session to learn more about Zoom Phone features.
Things you can do now to prepare
- Zoom Location Awareness feature: For e911 responders to identify a location when called from the Zoom phone (desktop or mobile device), users must enable location permission on Zoom phone devices. Learn more.
- Zoom Login: The importance of establishing a Zoom account
If you haven't yet established a Zoom account, please do so now by logging in. Using your default browser, log in to Zoom at fresnostate.zoom.us to open the Zoom App. Access complete Zoom login instructions here.
- DUO (2-Step Verification): Ensure you have a way to authenticate for DUO
Once migration is complete, your Avaya desk phone will be removed and will not be available to authenticate for 2-Step Verification (DUO). If you use your Avaya phone for DUO, please select an alternate authentication device, such as a key fob (refer to the attached decision tree diagram):
- Avaya voicemail messages: Retrieve important information now
Voicemail messages saved on the Avaya desk phone will cease to exist once your phone number migrates to Zoom Phone. Take a moment to review saved messages and retrieve important information now.
- Training and Q&A Sessions: Training dates and Q&A Sessions are on the Zoom Phone webpage.
- Questions: Questions may be sent to zoomphone@mail.fresnostate.edu, or chat with us on our dedicated Zoom channel - "Zoom Phone - Ask a Question!"
Thank you for taking the time to learn about and prepare for Zoom Phone.
