The Arne Nixon Center for the Study of Children’s Literature will host the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators’ Picture Book Boot Camp, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, in Room 2206 of the Henry Madden Library. Award-winning Canadian author Uma Krishnaswami will be a featured speaker at 1 p.m.
The Picture Book Boot Camp, for authors and illustrators of all levels, will feature editor Ariel Richardson from publisher Chronicle Books. Richardson will provide insider tips on what it takes to get your book published.
SCBWI members, and nonmembers interested in attending, must register and pay on the SCBWI’s website. All are welcome. Registration fees are $35 for members and $45 for nonmembers. The boot camp will begin at 10 a.m. and last until noon. Morning coffee and refreshments will be available.
Krishnaswami’s talk, which is free and open to the public, will round out the SCBWI program starting at 1 p.m.
