Dr. Samina Najmi, professor, Department of English, was recently recognized for her forthcoming debut memoir, "Sing Me a Circle: Love, Loss and a Home in Time" (Trio House Press, 2025), with a starred review in Publisher's Weekly and inclusion in a list of debut nonfiction picks for 2025 in Poets & Writers magazine.
Najmi will be reading from her nonfiction book on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Fresno Writers Summit on campus, hosted by Fresno State's Creative Writing Alumni Chapter; and Saturday, Oct. 4 at a community book launch at the cultural space Dulce Upfront, hosted by Judging By the Cover bookstore.

Dr. Mohan B. Dangi, professor, Department of Geography and City and Regional Planning, co-organized the International Workshop on Concepts and Practical Applications of the Circular Economy in Municipal Solid Waste Management in July at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Mumbai, India.
The workshop featured six invited speakers, including his co-host, Professor Anil Kumar Dikshit from IIT Bombay, as well as experts from across India and Taiwan. There were 162 participants in attendance.
Dangi also gave a plenary talk on the topic, “Solid waste management in the context of green economy and sustainability,” which emphasized the basics of solid waste management and what it takes to have a successful operation using the case study of composting and green waste management in Fresno.
Cary Edmondson, university photographer, University Marketing and Communications, was named the second place winner of the 2025 California State University Photo of the Year competition.
