What began as a “bold idea” in the 2017 Bold Ideas Challenge has now come to fruition in Fresno State’s newest employee recognition program — High Five. Click here to read about how the program began.
High Fives are easy to give — simply go to the High Five website on the Organizational Excellence webpage, click “Give a High Five” and fill out the form to send kudos to anyone on campus. Your message will be delivered straight to their inbox, and recipients will be acknowledged weekly in Campus News.
Read below how your colleagues are going above and beyond to help the campus community.

Goes Above & Beyond
Terry Lewis, Henry Madden Library
Terry has worked tirelessly to get instructors and students the materials they need. He has also helped out at the library service desk to welcome people to the library. In addition to all this, he has taken on care of the library's plants to help create a warm and welcoming space for all.
Amy Allen, Student Involvement
Department
Facilities Management
Special thanks to the team who has prepared so extensively to provide a safe environment for our face-to-face classes. Also, all those heroes that are constantly cleaning our campus to limit our potential exposure. You are greatly appreciated.
Saved my Bacon!
Laura Gribben, Faculty Affairs
Right as classes were starting, Laura helped our department process a faculty new hire in an unprecedented five days from start to hire. We wouldn't have been to provide this upper division class to our students without Laura's assistance.
Provides Excellent Customer Service
Marcy Gatzman, Police Department
As the campus shifted quickly to support those affected by the Creek Fire over the weekend, Marcy quickly developed a website with resources and information for our campus community. She gathered content developed by University Communications, e.g. campus messages, and developed a website within a few hours (maybe less). This is just one example of Marcy's professionalism, responsiveness and collaboration that's valued by many of us, including in University Communications. Many thanks, Marcy!
Amy Luna, Police Department
Over Labor Day weekend, as the Creek Fire erupted, Amy jumped into action as the University's manager for emergency operations and business continuity, by developing the fire impact reporting form and related tracking sheet, among other tasks. Thanks to these tools and her expertise, University Communications was then able to do its work in communicating with the campus community, beginning on Sunday, Sept. 6. This one example illustrates the long-standing collaboration between Amy and UComm. We couldn't do much of our crisis-management work without you, Amy!
