Mindy Kates, survivor advocate, Student Health and Counseling Center, received the Outstanding Alumni Award presented by Central Unified School District for her service to the community and commitment to youth. Kates serves as the head of Survivor Advocacy Services at the Student Health and Counseling Center, and has over 24 years of experience working in the community.
"I feel honored to have received this award because it is not often that those of us who do confidential work, get acknowledged for the work we do for our community," Kates said. "Getting this award during Domestic Violence Awareness Month made it more special and it was a very heartfelt moment."
