University Advancement is accepting nominations for 2018-2019 honorary doctoral degrees given by the California State University Board of Trustees.
Candidates must demonstrate high moral character, be distinguished in their respective fields, and be someone who is widely recognized. Nominees must also have demonstrated intellectual and humane values that are consistent with the ideals of the CSU, the aims of higher education, and the highest ideals of the person’s chosen fields.
Last May, Fresno State awarded professional engineer James “Jim” R. Provost with a Honorary Doctor of Science degree. Provost is the founding principal of Provost and Pritchard Engineering Group Inc. in Fresno. He is a 1962 graduate of the Lyles College of Engineering, from which he received a degree in civil engineering, and he was honored by the Fresno State Alumni Association as the college’s Top Dog in 2008.
The following categories will be recognized:
- Doctor of Fine Arts (D.F.A.)
- Doctor of Humane Letters (L.H.D.)
- Doctor of Laws (LL.D.)
- Doctor of Letters (Litt.D.)
- Doctor of Science (Sc.D.)
