Dr. Soua Xiong, associate professor, Department of Counselor Education and Rehabilitation, received the 2025 CenCal TRIO Alumni Excellence Award from the Western Association of Educational Opportunity Personnel (WESTOP) Central California Chapter.

He is a proud TRIO alumnus of the Fitchburg State University TRIO Upward Bound program and the Fresno State TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program and Ronald E. McNair program. Prior to becoming a professor, he also worked for the Fresno State TRIO Educational Talent Search (ETS) program and Reedley College TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program.

Dr. Veena Howard, professor and chair, Department of Philosophy, endowed chair in Jain and Hindu Dharma and director of the M.K. Gandhi Center: Inner Peace and Sarvodaya, organized the "Peace and Dharma: Ethics, Nonviolence, and Justice in the Religious Traditions of India" international conference on Oct. 2 and 3. The event was sponsored by the Uberoi Foundation for Religious Studies.

Following the conference, keynote speaker, Dr. Francis X. Clooney, S.J., Parkman Professor of Divinity at Harvard University, posted a reflection on his blog, hosted by the Harvard Divinity School, which reaches a worldwide audience.
