Technology Services is excited to announce the fall 2023 Digital Accessibility training sessions. All are welcome to attend.
Digital Accessibility Training
The Americans with Disabilities Act and the CSU Accessible Technology Initiative ensure that our community members with disabilities have equal opportunities to participate in and benefit from programs, services and activities at Fresno State. With this in mind, the Office of Digital Accessibility provides the following training:
- An Introduction to Digital Accessibility at Fresno State: This training explains why digital accessibility is important and highlights key offices, resources and available tools. Includes an open discussion on the needs of our campus and future training sessions.
- Accessibility and Zoom: Join Lars Newlander and Mike Harding as they discuss using Zoom for accessible communication.
- Video Captioning: Captioning your videos help promote an equitable environment online. Learn to use campus tools like YouTube Studio to caption videos. The training will also cover how to format your captions correctly.
- Creating Accessible Emails: This training session will teach you how to make your email more accessible.
- GrackleDocs: GrackleDocs is an add-on to the Google Suite of programs (Google Docs and Google Slides). GrackleDocs will test and help remediate Google content to work well with screen reader software and other assistive technology, while producing better-structured documents overall.
- Understanding Color Use for Accessibility: People with visual impairments interpret color and contrast differently. That makes it difficult or impossible for them to access information communicated only by color. Join the Office of Digital Accessibility as they walk you through key accessibility practices, guidelines, laws and tools to ensure accessible use of color.
Document accessibility
The Office of Digital Accessibility offers in person and virtual labs on remediating documents in Adobe Acrobat and Office 365. Dates and times are on the Technology Services website under Accessibility.
OMNI CMS Training
Our Web Services Team offers training for the campus OMNI CMS. Learn to edit campus web pages, upload images and documents, link to web pages and edit content. This session includes basic web accessibility training. NOTE: OMNI CMS training is mandatory to access the campus web sites.
Both the Web Office and the Office of Digital Accessibility offer virtual office hours on Zoom to support questions from the campus community. All training, office hours, and open labs can be found on our website.
