Stephanie Bradshaw (Theatre Arts), Costume Shop supervisor, earned her M.A. in Art with distinction (concentration in Art History) in December and her thesis, “The Sculpture of Rachel Whiteread and Social Space,” was selected as the outstanding thesis by the College of Arts and Humanities.
She is a double alumna, graduating magna cum laude with a B.A. in Theatre Arts in 2001 and a minor art. Bradshaw is a 15-year veteran staff member of the Theatre Arts Department.
Iran Barrera (Social Work Education) was selected to participate in one of 15 three-person national research teams, where he will help to identify significant health risks stemming from those living in disadvantaged communities in Fresno County. He’ll join researchers and community leaders from across the country to advance a Culture of Health, which is a framework that places well-being at the center of every aspect of life.
Dr. John P.J. Dussich (Emeritus, Criminology) was recognized with a 2016 Hall of Fame Award from the Florida State University College of Criminology and Criminal Justice. The award honors the professional and personal achievements of alumni of the College.
He is a three-time graduate from Florida State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology, a master’s degree in Corrections and Criminology and a doctorate in Criminology and Sociology.
Liz Garvin (Development) was among three honorees at the Fresno Women’s Network 2016 Gala on Oct. 7. She was honored for her work between 2003-07 as CEO of Samaritan Women, a Central Valley group for women who have been incarcerated; at the Better Business Bureau as the director of Mediation; at the Small Claims and Civil Limited Advisors Program for Fresno County; and as the associate director of Planned Giving at Fresno State.
Gyanesh Lama (Social Work Education) co-presented at the International Conference on Shamanism, Healing and Transformation in San Rafael on “Bon Healing: The Science of Unobserved and Unmeasured Reality.”
Dana Lucka (College of Health and Human Services) has been selected as a Fulbright Specialist Roster Candidate, effective Sept.1. It’s a family affair as she joins her father, who was a Fulbright Scholar in former Yugoslavia studying Balkan History. She is now considered a Fulbright Legacy.
Miguel Perez (Public Health) and his Fulbright Scholars colleagues from around the world have started a blog to share health information to a global audience. The blog is bilingual, available in Spanish and English.
Jennifer Roos (Physical Therapy) received her Specialist Certificate for Geriatrics from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.
Beth Wilkinson (College of Health and Human Services), and her husband, Colin, welcomed little Wren Ariadne into the world on Aug. 25.
