Dr. Marat Markin (Mathematics) has recently had a graduate textbook Elementary Functional Analysis published by De Gruyter (see https://www.degruyter.com/view/product/507675?format=B), a compact but profound presentation of the fundamentals of this rapidly developing branch of modern mathematics with profoundly abstract nature and vast applications. The book is designed for teaching a one-semester course with prerequisites set intentionally quite low to make it accessible and attractive to a wider audience of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) graduate students or advanced undergraduates with a solid background in calculus and linear algebra.
Earlier this year, World Scientific published his book Integration for Calculus, Analysis, and Differential Equations:Techniques, Examples, and Exercises (see https://www.worldscientific.com/worldscibooks/10.1142/11035) designed to assists Calculus students to gain a better understanding and command of integration and its applications and reaching to students in more advanced courses such as Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations, and Analysis, where the ability to effectively integrate is essential for their success.
Dr. Markin 's contributions to campus include securing Fresno State as the location for the American Mathematical Society Spring Western Sectional Meeting to be held in May 2020 (see https://www.ams.org/meetings/sectional/sectional.html), a remarkable event that will highlight Fresno State as a university making important scholarly contributions aligning it with the best schools in the nation.
Dr. Bradley Hart's (Media, Communications and Journalism) book, Hitler’s American Friends, the Third Reich’s Supporters in the United States, has made Time Magazine’s list of “13 New Books Everyone Will Be Talking About This Fall.” While many remember World War II as a time when the country came together for a common cause, Hart examines a more divided America before the war in which many citizens aligned themselves with Hitler and the Third Reich. The book, published by Thomas Dunne - Macmillan Publishers, is available at Amazon in hardcover and Kindle. See more.
