October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Fresno State Survivor Advocacy Services is hosting a resource fair on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Memorial Gardens (near the water fountain). We will have campus and community resources.
It is also Purple Thursday. Wear purple to show support for those experiencing domestic violence. When you wear purple, you are showing your friends and family you are a safe and supportive person, and you're showing the world you stand behind ending domestic violence. To show support, post a photo of yourself wearing purple using #PurpleThursday, #Every1KnowsSome1, and tag @FSHealthCenter and @marjareemasoncenter.
We invite you to our resource fair to learn more about the impact of domestic violence and the resources dedicated to assisting survivors towards healing, while also learning how you can provide support. For more information about domestic violence, visit the National Network to End Domestic Violence’s website.
If you or someone you know is dealing with domestic/dating violence, contact Fresno County local hotline, the Marjaree Mason Center at 559.233.4357 or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800.799.7233. Faculty, staff, and students can also contact Campus Confidential Survivor Advocacy Services at 559.278.6896 or survivoradvocate@csufresno.edu.
You can also request training for your class, office or department, here.
