It is with great sadness that we announce our friend and colleague, Helen Martinez, passed away on Nov. 13.

Martinez worked at Fresno State for over 35 years in various offices including the Division of Graduate Studies and most recently in the Lyles College of Engineering where she was the academic and administrative services lead in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

“We have lost an honorable, kind, hard-working colleague. Helen will be remembered for her many years of quality service at Fresno State, caring for students, excellent work discipline and virtuous character. God bless her soul,” said Dr. Reza Raeisi, chair, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

A visitation for Martinez will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30 at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave. in Fresno. A rosary service will follow at 6 p.m.

Another rosary service and mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1 at St. Helen's Catholic Church, 4870 E. Belmont Ave. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Cemetery, 264 N. Blythe Ave.
