How long have you worked at Fresno State?
I started my position in December 2019 in Admissions and Recruitment and remain here. I love the work I do.
Are you a Valley native?
I am Bulldog Born and Bulldog Bred, always a Valley native!
Are you a Bulldog family with generations of Bulldog graduates or current students?
Both of my parents graduated from Fresno State, my dad received his B.A. in criminology and served the community on the Fresno Police Department for 35 years, and my mom received her teaching credential and served Fresno Unified School District for 20 years.
What are you most passionate about in your position and why?
I am most passionate about the students that we serve. Most of our students are first-generation students and assisting them to achieve their educational goals is inspiring.
What is a memorable moment you had at your job?
Last year at our first in-person event since COVID, New Bulldog Visit Day, I had a mom come up to me and give me a hug. She was crying because she was so proud of her son who had worked so hard to meet all the requirements to get into Fresno State. Being a mom myself I knew how she felt. It was a great moment.
What is a memorable moment you had in class?
When I attended my last semester at Fresno State in 2001, I had my first son halfway through my last semester. I called my instructor, Dr. Aldridge, and told him that I was not going to make it to class because I could not find a sitter, it was test day. He said to bring the baby in, and the class will all help watch him if he is fussing when I take the exam. I was surprised on one hand, but on the other, I was not. He was one of the most caring instructors I ever had.
What do you like to do for fun in your spare time?
My husband and I are wine enthusiasts. If we are not on the wine trails in the Valley then we are in Paso Robles.
What is something interesting about you that most people don’t know?
My husband and I serve on the Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT) for the Fresno Fire Department. We have gone through extensive training. We go out to fires and support the firefighters by providing cooling stations and hydration. We also role-play during their training exercises so that their exercises are more realistic.
