Shannon Fast Birkner has been named senior director of development of Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, and executive director of the Ag One Foundation, effective Dec. 9.

This marks her return to Fresno State and the Jordan College, where she served for more than 10 years as director of development, central development within University Advancement.

Birkner currently serves as senior director of corporate relations in the Orfalea College of Business at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. In this role, she acts as the primary liaison between the college and industry stakeholders, fostering collaborative partnerships that advance the college's mission and strategic objectives.

Birkner's diverse background in agriculture, higher education, industry relations, and nonprofit organization, along with her prior experience on campus, positions her well to build on the strong foundation and philanthropic relationships in this position.

Raised in Hanford, and a proud Fresno State alumna, class of 2000, Birkner is "Bulldog born, Bulldog bred." She enjoys woodworking, four-wheeling and camping trips with her husband, Dennis, and their three dogs. She looks forward to reconnecting with her fellow alumni and the agriculture community in the Valley and beyond.
