It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of Josie Almeida this fall after an extraordinary 40 years of dedicated service to the Fresno State community. Almeida's journey here has been nothing short of inspiring, and we are incredibly grateful for the lasting impact she has made across multiple roles in our university.
From her early days as an accounting technician to her most recent role as assistant controller, Almeida has been an integral part of the university's growth and success. She has served the university in a variety of capacities, including student financial services/student accounts manager, supervising accountant, and intermediate account clerk, always demonstrating exceptional leadership, dedication and expertise.
Almeida’s contributions are far-reaching and transformative. In November 2014, she was promoted to assistant controller, where she became a steadfast leader in shaping our financial processes. Under her leadership, Fresno State became the first CSU campus to implement online payments, a groundbreaking achievement that has made financial transactions more efficient and accessible for students and staff alike.
Additionally, Almeida played a key role on the Peoplesoft Pilot Implementation team, where she helped successfully lead the implementation of the Student Administration Module, meeting the challenging 18-month deadline. This project not only enhanced the university’s operations but also set a precedent for future initiatives across the CSU system.
Almeida’s legacy is one of innovation, dedication and unwavering commitment to the success of this campus and our students. As she transitions into retirement, we know her impact will continue to be felt by all who have had the privilege of working with her. Her leadership and contributions have paved the way for many advancements that will serve our community for years to come.
While we will certainly miss Almeida’s expertise and guidance, we wish her all the best in this new chapter of her life. She leaves behind a legacy of excellence that will continue to inspire all of us. Join us to congratulate her on her retirement.
