How long have you worked at Fresno State? I will celebrate my 10-year anniversary on Dec. 16. Just about five years as a staff member with the Auxiliary HR Office and five years with University HR.
What is your most notable accomplishment in your field, and why was it important? A few years ago, I participated on a CAIFE team to help strengthen the employee onboarding experience. Our team created some really great tools, but the most exciting are the annual welcome breakfast, Fresno State 101 and the gift basket for new hires. We received some really great feedback on the information shared during these events and I know it's been a helpful learning experience for our colleagues. We've missed the breakfast and Fresno State 101, but hope to get back to these events soon! The gift baskets are ongoing and I know our hires like sporting the Fresno State gear.
What are you most passionate about in your field and why? This has always been, and will always be, about helping people! The absolute best feeling is offering a candidate a job and hearing their excitement (sometimes happy tears) on the other end of the phone. Most new hires are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to work here and it's so humbling and refreshing to hear their stories and have them join our campus community.
What is a memorable moment you had at your job? There are a few! Recently, I encouraged a candidate to apply for a position that would be a wonderful opportunity for them. It would be a challenge, but a chance to learn new skills and contribute positively to the department. They were unsure, and even a bit self-conscious, but ended up applying after a bit of hesitation. Turns out, they were selected for the job! Offering that job was especially rewarding. Some of my other favorite moments have been the employees that have visited me to thank me for the opportunity to work at Fresno State, or those that have remembered special details about our conversations.
What do you like to do for fun in your spare time? I know this is terrible, but I'm a big time Netflixer. The list of shows that I've binge-watched since the pandemic started is longer than I'd like to admit. I also enjoy traveling (my husband and I have been to nine countries together), trying new restaurants/food spots and crafting/DIY projects.
What is something interesting about you that most people don’t know? My husband and I are expecting a little girl in January! It's our first, so we are super excited (and a little nervous!). It's also the first grandchild, so both sides of the family are ready to start spoiling her!
Is there something else you would like to share that was not asked?
I am proud to work at Fresno State! Go Dogs!
