What began as a “bold idea” in the 2017 Bold Ideas Challenge has now come to fruition in Fresno State’s newest employee recognition program — High Five. Click here to read about how the program began.
High Fives are easy to give — simply go to the High Five website on the Organizational Excellence webpage, click “Give a High Five” and fill out the form to send kudos to anyone on campus. Your message will be delivered straight to their inbox, and recipients will be acknowledged weekly in Campus News.
The first of the High Five recipients are in! Read below how your colleagues are going above and beyond to help the campus community.

Above and Beyond
Terry Barrett - Music
We needed a few cabinet and shelving units removed from a storage area and he went above and beyond to remove them. He also found new homes for them as we are always looking for storage cabinets in the music building.
Stacy Murray - Staff Assembly
Stacy is an exemplary leader and a very hard worker! She went above and beyond the call of duty in leading the decorating contest during homecoming. In addition, she lead her team to not only get all the judging done in a timely manner, but made the day fun and exciting! Stacy's organizational skills and dedication to the campus shows in her quality of work. Thank you Stacy for always putting in 150% in everything you do, from donating time to getting donation for our campus raffle prizes time and time again. Stacy WE appreciate you!
Christina Martinez - Catering
Christina assists the mechanical engineering department with different catering events and helps me process them even when it is not her area to do so. For example Nancy Cortez handles the pizza orders but Christina still accommodated our request for delivery.
Jonathan Castro - Technology Services
Jonathan has gone above the call of duty with helping Technology Services develop a valued appreciation program!
Angelica Miramontes - Criminology
I started in my position last year, new to the campus, and Angelica went out of her way to train me, answer my numerous phone calls and is always ready with a smile when I asked for help. She came to my department multiple times to train me one-on-one.
Juan Herrera - Child and Family Science and Food Science and Nutrition
Juan excels in his job and is also filling in for the rest of the semester in another department half-time. He is excited about taking on additional responsibilities and meeting new people.
Teresita Guthrie - Human Resources
She has helped me a number of times with the hiring process, when hiring students and she has directed me to the appropriate person to assist me and the department with hiring Teaching Associates. She is very patient and kind and walks you through the process with ease!
William Hardaway - Learning Center
William is always brimming with creative and innovative ideas to improve the efficiency and work flow in his department; he constantly thinks about how his team's service could be better to further support Fresno State students. He is always looking for a fresh perspective on things and has never been afraid to adapt to and adopt new technology. Hats off to you, Will!
Melissa Peters - Art and Design
Without her help, I don't think we could survive in our department. She has always been super helpful to me and to everyone else in the department and works nonstop resolving all our problems. And despite all the difficulties, she always has a good smile. For those reasons, I would like to recognize how great a colleague and employee Melissa Peters is.
Peter Robertson - Alumni Engagement
Every interaction with Peter is always meaningful. His story is the embodiment of what is means to be a true Bulldog. He gives without expecting recognition. He lends a hand without ever wanting anything in return. I value his expertise in fundraising and he never shies away from sharing that knowledge with others to empower growth and development across the campus.
Marc Tamarit - Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures
Marc pours his heart into creating content for students that are both challenging and engaging. He works tremendously hard to give his students opportunities to learn beyond a textbook because he values equipping students with transferable skills outside of his classroom. He plans his lectures with activities promoting a higher level of critical thinking and peer collaboration. He always strives to honor quality in education.
