Welcoming back live theater and planetarium shows, being cyber smart and migrating databases.
Dear Campus Community,
As we move into the last phase of our fall semester, I want to send you my sincere appreciation for your incredible labor of love throughout these past few months.
We’ve experienced the special energy of life on campus, and look forward to safely increasing our participation in learning and campus activities. And though we still have challenges ahead, I’m confident that our Fresno State family will rise to the occasion to continue to empower our students for success.
Here’s wishing you a cool autumn, with health and all good things.
Academic Affairs
As our campus continues to open up this semester, many of the live cultural events that we have missed since March 2020 are returning. The Downing Planetarium has reopened and is offering new shows to both school groups and the general public. The Fresno State University Theatre has also returned to in-person performances with a full 2021 mainstage season.
Student Affairs and Enrollment Management
There are many resources available to help students meet their basic needs.
At Project HOPE, case managers provide emotional support and lead students to important resources: grants for basic needs and unforeseen emergencies, Bulldog Steps workshops assist in adult skill building, meal assistance and emergency housing.
The Amendola Family Student Cupboard is a free food and hygiene pantry for all currently enrolled students at Fresno State.
The CARE Team makes it easy to connect students to our many campus resources. Anyone who becomes aware of a student in need of help can fill out the CARE Team online referral form and we will reach out.
Technology Services
Every October, Technology Services participates in Cybersecurity Awareness month, a digital campaign hosted by the Department of Homeland Security, designed to promote safe online practices.
“Be Cyber Smart” was this year’s theme, promoted to the campus community using social media, weekly communications and in-person events.
- Workshops were hosted by the Information Security Office
- Social media platforms promoted best practices: @fresnostatetech
- Weekly articles were published in Campus News

University Advancement
Advancement Services in collaboration with Technology Services successfully migrated the alumni/donor database, Ellucian Advance to Amazon Web Services (AWS). By moving to the cloud, AWS provides fast, interactive queries, improved security and reliability for database users.
