After an 18-year career in the broadcast industry, Kirk came to Fresno State in 2018 as a communication specialist in the College of Arts and Humanities. Taking advantage of the CSU employee fee waiver benefit, he returned to the classroom to get his master's degree in Kremen's HEAL program.

When her youngest child was in high school, Clark finally had the opportunity to go back to school. Inspired by her son with differing abilities, Clark conducted a local survey resulting in a thesis entitled "The Administrator/Educator Influence on the Transition of Students, with IDEA Services, from K-12 to Postsecondary/College During the COVID-19 Pandemic."
