As you may be aware, we are moving into the first phase of the Central Utility Plant Replacement Project (CUPR) that includes installation of new underground piping throughout campus.
Starting this week, safety fencing is being installed in two large areas of our campus as shown here. These fences will remain in place for at least the next six months.
Access to the following buildings will remain available; however some building entry doors may be unavailable due to proximity of the fence line. Signage will be in place to direct pedestrians to accessible alternative entries and path of travel (sidewalks). The following buildings will be impacted:
- Professional Human Services
- Library (east employee entrance)
- McKee Fisk
Alternative ADA path of travel will be provided and clearly delineated with signage. If anyone requires special accessibility accommodations, please contact Services for Students with Disabilities or Human Resources/ADA Coordinator.
Please be sure to plan for additional time in your schedules as you walk across campus. There may be some slight delays as pedestrian traffic may need to be paused by construction workers to allow for construction vehicles to pass within the fenced areas. Access for emergency vehicles and fire department have been reviewed and planned for with continual inspections and adjustments made throughout the project. Please be alert and watch out for construction traffic.
We know this project is a major disruption to our campus and we want to assure you that we are doing everything we can to minimize the inconvenience and ensure the safety of our campus community. Please contact Facilities Management at 559.278.2373 if you have any questions. Feedback can also be provided here.
More information on the project can be found on the CUPR website. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
