The Library is thrilled to announce the successful completion of the inaugural Consumer Health Information Specialization (CHIS) course, launched in Spring 2025 and proudly hosted by the Fresno State Library. The course was designed and taught by Health Sciences Librarian Shuyi Liu.
This groundbreaking course, the first of its kind in California, was accredited by the Medical Library Association and sponsored by the Network of the National Library of Medicine. A total of 12 dedicated students enrolled and completed the program, earning their CHIS certifications. Through this course, participants developed essential skills in evaluating consumer health resources, promoting health literacy, and supporting their communities with trusted medical information.
Congratulations to our pioneering CHIS graduates! Your commitment to equitable, informed health access is a powerful step toward building healthier communities.
