This summer, you’re invited to slow down, breathe deep and read together.
Join us for a rejuvenating summer book club centered on "Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times" by Katherine May. Wintering is a gentle, thoughtful read about how embracing life’s quieter seasons can restore and reshape us. Let this summer be your invitation to rest, reflect and read — together.
For those of us working in higher education, summer often feels like our own fallow season — a natural time to slow down and recharge. And with the heat keeping us indoors, what better way to cool the mind than by reading about winter?
This club follows a hybrid Silent Book Club format: the first 30 minutes are dedicated to quiet reading together — easing the pressure of keeping up with assigned chapters — followed by 30 minutes of relaxed, casual discussion.
The first 25 registrants will receive a free copy of Wintering (with a two-session participation commitment).
Dates: June 11 and 25, July 9 and 23
Time: Noon – 1 p.m.
Location: Levine Reading Room, Library 2124
Register: In CSU Learn using this link
Please register only if you plan to attend at least two sessions.
