BoNhia Lee, communications specialist in University Communications, was a contributing writer in "Staring Down the Tiger," published by the Minnesota Historical Society Press. The book is a collection of stories and poems that celebrate the power of Hmong American women. Lee writes about her mother's journey crossing the Mekong River and her life in a Thai refugee camp before immigrating to the United States.
A special virtual reading of the book for Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 29 on the Celebrate Hmong Facebook page.
