President Joseph I. Castro will confer the honorary doctorate upon James “Jim” R. Provost at Fresno State’s 107th commencement on May 19.

Provost is a professional engineer and the founding principal of Provost and Pritchard Engineering Group Inc. He will be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science degree

Provost is a 1962 graduate of Fresno State's Lyles College of Engineering, from which he received a degree in civil engineering.

In 2008, the Fresno State Alumni Association honored him as Top Dog for the Lyles College.
