The public is invited to a “Nuclear War Teach-in/Die-in” presentation by history professor Dr. Lori Clune from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 in the Social Sciences quad.
The rescheduled event will cover a brief history of nuclear weapons, explore current challenges, and include info about organizations tied to anti-nuclear activities. A reflective "Die-In" portion will follow and provide 10 minutes for quiet reflection.
Clune is an expert on the U.S.-Soviet Union relations, espionage, and the Rosenberg spy ring and court case in the 1940s and early 50s.
She was featured in the March 2024 Netflix documentary series “Turning Point: The Bomb and The Cold War,” which was recently nominated for an Emmy Award in the Outstanding Historical Documentary category.
More information on that series, which was co-produced by Media, Communications and Journalism assistant professor Hanayo Oya, can be found here.
The public is invited to bring a blanket or towel to sit on, and those needing accommodations can contact Dr. Amber Crowell, acrowell@csufresno.edu.
Wednesday’s event is the final public presentation in a spring series by College of Social Sciences faculty.
