Dr. Charles Hillyer, interim associate vice president of the California Water Institute, served as the head of the United States delegation at the 39th Meeting of the International Standards Organization Technical Committee 23/SC 18 held in Madrid, Spain. Representatives from 32 countries work year-round to standardize irrigation and drainage systems and equipment by establishing international performance requirements, characteristics, and test methods. Fresno State’s Center for Irrigation Technology has been integral to the U.S. standards effort for over 40 years.

Dr. Kathleen Rindahl, Dr. Bryan Tune, Dr. Kammi Sayaseng (not pictured) and Dr. Susan Senzaki (not pictured), faculty, the School of Nursing, provided more than 50 free sports physicals to the community, including local children at Oraze Elementary School. Undergraduate and graduate nursing students worked directly with faculty to screen patients and provide the physical exams, providing a much needed service to the community.
