Professor Kathleen Godfrey (English) has been accepted to the prestigious National Endowment for the Humanities' annual Summer Institute for College and University Teachers. The institute, focused on "The Native American West: A Case Study of the Columbia Plateau," assembles 30 interdisciplinary scholars to study and explore historical perspectives and Native American responses to religion, subsistence practices, politics, aesthetics, and Indigenous experiences. Dr. Godfrey will apply her studies to the development the new Engl 142 course, American Indian Masterpieces of American Literature, which will be offered in spring 2019.
