Terree Stevenson, associate vice president of student affairs and dean of students, has been selected as the keynote speaker for “Juneteenth: A Freedom Celebration” at the African American Historical and Cultural Museum of the San Joaquin Valley.
Dr. John Henson, professor, Animal Sciences and Agricultural Education Department, will give a workshop, "Exploring Pathways: Guiding Students through Meat Industry Study Tours" at the 77th Reciprocal Meat Conference hosted by the American Meat Science Association.
Kati Begen, lecturer, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, has published a workbook, “Thriving During Your First Year of Teaching” to support new teachers navigating their first year in the classroom.
The workbook was the result of 10 plus years in education, pulling from her personal experiences in the classroom and the education she experienced at Fresno State. Her workbook can be found on Amazon.
Dr. William Arcé, associate professor, Department of English, received a $5,000 Humanities for All grant from California Humanities for the project, “Hispanic Student Veterans Initiative.”
Venita Blackburn, associate professor, Department of English, had her novel, “Dead in Long Beach, California” featured in the Washington Examiner and the Orange County Register. The book was selected by Alta Journal for the California Book Club. The book was also included in the Elle list “The 29 Best Mystery and Thriller Books of 2024” and the New York Times list “9 New Books We Recommend This Week.”
Her story collection “How To Wrestle a Girl” was included in the Literary Hub feature on “Writing Sports Narratives: The Great Divide Between Playing and Watching.”
Ronald Dzerigian, graduate student support specialist, Division of Research and Graduate Studies, began releasing periodic music as vocalist and songwriter for the band NO/AND.
Dr. Lillian Faderman, professor emeritus of English, was featured on the NEA Art Works podcast for the National Endowment for the Arts.
Gabriel Ibarra, lecturer, Department of English, published the poem “Un Pinche Sandwich” in the journal Flies, Cockroaches and Poets.
