I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. George Still as the associate vice president for the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE).
Dr. George Still is a native of Virginia and is a first-generation college graduate. He earned his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech in sociology, focusing on social inequality and higher education. Dr. Still has served since 2017 as the director of assessment for the Division of Student Affairs at University of North Carolina, Greensboro. In this role, he conducted student survey research and oversaw annual reports, program review and accreditation support, in addition to his leadership role on the campus’s data governance committee, the campus climate committee and various retention committees. Beyond the UNC Greensboro campus, he serves on the Grand Challenges in Assessment national workgroup. Prior to 2017, Dr. Still served for three years as the director of Institutional Planning, Effectiveness, and Research at Danville Community College.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Sergio La Porta for his leadership at OIE as the interim director from fall 2022 to December 2023, and thank Vice Provost Alam Hasson for providing oversight to OIE from January to May 2024.
