In the summer of 2022, Technology Services embarked on a project to expand the outdoor wireless footprint on campus and upgrade current wireless locations, aiming to provide options for the campus community to safely access campus resources when indoor resources are constrained.
In addition to the existing 42 campus outdoor wireless access points, 14 new areas were installed based on their location and coverage. A current map of all access points and other helpful information is below:
More than ever, outdoor wireless has become increasingly beneficial, especially for students. Outdoor WiFi supports student success in the following ways:
- provides high-quality broadband for students who may not have access elsewhere
- allows access to campus resources even at times when buildings may be closed
- provides students access to network resources during non-traditional hours
- allows students to easily transition from online to in-person classes, eliminating transportation time
We hope you will take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy outdoor WiFi.
