California prohibited state-funded and state-sponsored travel to Wyoming (effective July 14), Missouri (effective Aug. 28) and Nebraska (effective Oct. 1) as a result of new legislation recently enacted in each state deemed as discriminatory, California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced.
As a reminder, funds appropriated by the legislature (i.e. tuition, fees, all campus funds) may not be used to pay for travel to the current list of banned states. However, campuses may choose to support travel based on their review of individual circumstances (i.e. sport team travel, faculty who hold leadership positions in national organizations, etc.) with nonstate funding from campus auxiliary organizations or private funds.
