Dr. Anil Shrestha, professor, Department of Plant Science, received a Best Book Award from the Indian Society of Weed Science as a co-editor.
The "Global Plant Invasions" book details how invasive plants are crossing national boundaries and costing millions of dollars in damages. Other topics covered include scientific, economic and social impacts and possible solutions. The book idea came during his sabbatical at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development in Nepal while working with Dr. Srijana Joshi, an ecosystem specialist.
They partnered with fellow researchers, Dr. David Clements (Trinity Western University-Canada) and Dr. Mahesh Upadhyaya (University of British Columbia), to write an introductory chapter, and edit and peer-review other chapters from internationally-renowned invasive plant scientists.
