Employees, students and volunteers must be authorized to drive if they operate a personal vehicle, rental vehicle, state vehicle and/or golf cart on university business. Following are the requirements:
- The University Driving Authorization form must be completed prior to driving and annually thereafter.
- Must maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Driving Safely, Driving Smarter training in CSU Learn must be completed before driving, and every four years thereafter.
- Powered Cart Safety Training (if applicable) is also required before driving a golf cart and every four years thereafter.
- You can view your transcript in CSU Learn at any time to check your training status.
- New: You may now check your driving authorization status by visiting the driving authorization page and reviewing the Authorized Drivers list.
- Each month (by the end of the first full week) the Authorized Drivers list will be updated and posted. This information is sorted by last name first, and then followed by first name. If you believe that you should be on this list, please contact our office for assistance: ehsrm@mail.fresnostate.edu.
Reminders:
If you are involved in an accident while driving on university business, you must report it as soon as possible and complete all required accident reports. These reports can be found on the Vehicle Accidents page.
- The maximum capacity of riders (drivers & passengers) for golf carts/powered carts is equal to the total number of seats. Ex: If a cart has two seats, only two passengers may ride in the cart.
- Do not ride in the bed of golf carts/powered carts.
- If golf carts/powered carts are equipped with seat belts, you must utilize them.
- Remember to be a defensive driver and be aware of pedestrians and those utilizing wheeled devices when driving around campus.
- In order to maintain situational awareness, DO NOT wear earphones or headphones in both ears at the same time while driving.
- Protect cart chargers from the elements. A cover should be used to prevent the battery charger from getting wet.
