Join the Fresno State Library for the opening reception of “Where Monsters are Born: Documenting a Fascist Revival on the Streets of Rome 2018-2019." This exhibition, presented by Dr. Brian J. Griffith, Department of History, in partnership with the Library, critically examines the rise of neo-fascism in Italy through the lens of visual and spatial propaganda.
The exhibition opens with a presentation by Dr. Griffith and reception hosted by Janet Crum, Dean of Library Services, at 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, at the Pete P. Peters Balcony Gallery on the Fresno State Library’s third floor. The event features materials collected by Dr. Griffith during his time in Rome on a Fulbright Fellowship. Visitors will encounter posters, stickers, handbills, and banners, many of which were "harvested" directly from the streets of Rome by Griffith during his time in Italy.
The reception is an exciting opportunity for our campus and community to learn more about visual literacy, civic engagement, and the additional curricular connections this exhibition can offer.
While the reception is open to all, we appreciate an RSVP. We hope to see you there.
