This spring, faculty, staff, students and administrators are invited to join a campuswide book club on Perry Garfinkel’s "Becoming Gandhi: My Experiment Living the Mahatma’s 6 Moral Truths in Immoral Times."
Blending biography, reportage and personal experiment, Garfinkel asks how Gandhi’s moral disciplines — truthfulness, nonviolence and rigorous self-scrutiny among them — hold up amid contemporary instability and conflict. Together we will read closely, reflect candidly and engage in sustained conversation about what moral truth might require in our shared civic and institutional life — and where Gandhi’s legacy continues to inspire, unsettle and provoke.
The first 20 participants to register will receive a free copy of the book, with the expectation that they attend at least three sessions.
Dates: Wednesdays, Feb. 11 and 25; March 11 and 25
Time: Noon – 12:50 p.m.
Location: RSU 216 and 215
Register: Here
Facilitated by Dr. Veena Howard, Gandhi scholar and director of Fresno State’s M.K. Gandhi Center: Inner Peace and Sarvodaya.
