Fresno State is committed to ensuring that persons with disabilities, both members of our campus community and the general public, have access to, and use of, information that is as equally effective as that which is available to individuals without disabilities. As Fresno State's executive sponsor for the CSU Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI), I will strive to proactively advocate for, raise awareness, and empower action toward a more inclusive environment and experience for our students, faculty and staff.
To affirm this commitment, I have established a Digital Accessibility Team within the division of Technology Services. Members of this team serve as partners within our campus community to provide both guidance and assistance in the design, review, or remediation of websites, online electronic documents, and other digital resources in regards to digital accessibility. One of its goals is to ensure that appropriate guidelines are applied to those areas or items that are widely used by the Fresno State community or general public.
Our Digital Accessibility Specialists are in the process of reviewing commonly used campus websites and online electronic documents with a focus on applying standards that achieve our goal of exceeding established requirements and policies for digital accessibility.
As a member of the campus community, if you produce, maintain or edit content that can be obtained through a website, or if you prepare electronic documents or communications that are widely distributed; you may be contacted by one of our team members to discuss accessibility standards. Our team is available to serve and support with advice and training throughout this process. For additional information or questions you may contact the Digital Accessibility Team at digitalaccessibility@mail.fresnostate.edu or 559.278.4461.
To better support universal design and inclusive access, we will develop solutions that meet the needs of all users, with and without disabilities. This process will be achieved over time and in collaboration with our many colleagues. Together, we will work towards small, but incremental steps to create a community that benefits all of our students, faculty and staff.
