A new team devoted to developing procedures and preparation in advance of campus emergencies is meeting regularly.
The Emergency Preparedness Team examines events locally and nationally that might have an impact at Fresno State, in order to prepare for appropriate response and action, if needed.
The team includes the President’s Cabinet, Police Chief David Huerta, Dean of the College of Health and Human Services Jody Hironaka-Juteau, Academic Senate Chair Kevin Macy-Ayotte and ASI President Tim Ryan.
CSU Chancellor Timothy White asked each campus president to create preparedness teams.
“We are working to make sure we have our policies and practices fully understood in the event that we have a serious incident of any magnitude,” said President Joseph I Castro.
“We learned a lot from the social media crisis that we experienced a year ago and we watch the situations other universities are experiencing and how they deal with them. We don’t know exactly what might happen in the future, but we want to be as prepared as we can to effectively handle situations that may occur,” Castro said.
