Water — it’s one of the most vital and precious commodities in the world, and is often the center of debates and even fights.
If you’re interested in water topics or would just like to increase your water knowledge, you’re invited to join the Fresno State Water Book Club. Once again led by the California Water Institute, the Water Book Club will begin meeting in late January/early February. All campus students, faculty and staff are invited to participate.
The semester-long Water Book Club will meet virtually once a week during the lunch hour to go over the reading and have meaningful discussions on the issues presented.
“We have people from all over campus — different departments, different colleges — that are interested in water, even if their job does not directly revolve around water,” said Cailie Smith, events and marketing coordinator at the water institute. “It really does open your eyes to understanding water and the ecosystem surrounding water.”
This upcoming semester, the book club will be reading either "The King of California" by Mark Arax or "Superman's Not Coming: Our National Water Crisis and What We the People Can Do About It" by Deckle Edge. Books will be provided, while supplies last, by the California Water Institute.
Deadline to sign up for the Water Book Club is 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20 and help choose which book to read.
