For people who have visual impairments, the Fresno State campus can have unseen hazards, offering an impediment to a safe learning environment. A new app by One Sense is changing all that. The One Sense platform uses proximity-based sensing that issues a voice alert to the visually impaired, thus warning them of potential dangers and obstructions along their path.
Stepping forward as a leader in accessibility, Fresno State is working alongside One Sense to ensure everyone has access to the full learning experience.
"Student success and great student experience are our priorities," said Chief Information Officer Orlando Leon. "Empowering our students who may have visual impairments to be able safely get around our campus is one of the innovative uses of technology that we are exploring. We are excited to partner with One Sense and other Central Valley technology companies to support our students."
