In April, we announced the Student Success and Belonging Center (SSBC) as a welcoming space where Fresno State students can find personalized support, build connections and strengthen their sense of belonging on campus.

The SSBC represents an evolution of the Cross Cultural and Gender Center, bringing its legacy programs together with other identity-affirming and student success programs. Every Fresno State student is welcome to use the SSBC and its resources, with intentional support for students who may experience barriers related to race, ethnicity, gender, immigration status, first-generation status, financial need or other intersecting identities.

This fall, we’re excited to welcome students to the SSBC under the leadership of Dr. Ruby Sangha-Rico, associate vice president of Student Success Services; Varselles Cummings, senior director of Student Success and Belonging; and a dedicated team of staff working to provide personalized, coordinated support to students.

Students can receive one-on-one support and guidance from staff, connect with campus resources, explore affinity groups and mentorship, and discover opportunities to get involved and build community.

During SSBC Pop-Out Week from Sept. 7 to 11, faculty and staff are invited to stop by the SSBC, meet the team and learn more about the programs and resources available to students. We also encourage you to share these opportunities with students who may benefit from connecting with the center.
