Phillip Gonzales, professor of Chicano and Latin American Studies, was invited to be a member of the Collections and Acquisitions Committee for the Riverside Art Museum - The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture in Riverside. He is the first committee member from the Central Valley. Gonzales and his wife, Cathy, are founding members of The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture, which opened in June 2022.
Dr. Scott Sailor, professor in the Department of Kinesiology, was elected to the board of directors for the National Athletic Trainers Association Research and Education Foundation.
Dr. Nupur Hajela, assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, represented the Central Valley at the American Physical Therapy Association Leadership Congress’ Future of PT Summit in Washington, DC. She also recently became certified to provide virtual reality physical therapy via Neuro Rehab VR — the first of its kind in the U.S.
Dr. Nancy Nisbett, professor in the Department of Recreation Administration, was inducted into the National Academy of Recreational Therapists and is now recognized as a Distinguished Fellow in Recreational Therapy. She was also elected to the Board of Directors for the American Therapeutic Recreation Association, the national professional organization for recreation therapists. She will begin her three-year term in September.
Dr. Helda Pinzon-Perez, professor in the Department of Public Health, was accepted into the National Medical Fellowships Diversity in Clinical Trials Research Program.
Dr. Miguel Perez, interim chair and professor in the Department of Public Health, was appointed to the Society for Public Health Education Board of Trustees.
